Caren Kiarie is the founder and convener of the Nyando Social Justice Center, a leading organization dedicated to empowering women and advocating for social justice in Kisumu County. With a strong background in human rights advocacy, Caren has been instrumental in driving initiatives that support survivors of gender-based violence and foster peace and conflict resolution within the community.
As a prominent human rights defender, Caren has faced numerous challenges but remains steadfast in her commitment to promoting human rights and social justice. Her leadership at Nyando Social Justice Center has been recognized nationally for its innovative approaches to combating sexual gender-based violence (SGBV).
Under her guidance, the center continues to thrive as a beacon of hope for marginalized communities, embodying values of integrity, quality, accountability, education, and collaboration. Caren's dedication serves as an inspiration to many within Kenya's human rights landscape.

Our mission is to empower women and advocate for social justice in the community. We provide support for survivors of GBV, engage in advocacy campaigns for human rights, and foster peace and conflict resolution. We work towards creating a just and equitable society where everyone's rights are respected and protected, and people live together in peace and harmony.

Caren Kiarie
Founder and Convener
Caren Kiarie is the driving force behind the Nyando Social Justice Center, serving as its founder and convener.
She is a visionary leader who has dedicated her life to advancing human rights and social justice in Kisumu County. Her tireless efforts have positioned the organistion at the forefront of addressing critical issues such as gender-based violence, HIV/AIDS awareness, and community empowerment.

Jackline Otieno
Beneficiary & Children Protection Officer
Jackline Otieno plays a crucial role in safeguarding the safety and well-being of children who may be vulnerable to harm or abuse.
She is dedicated to ensuring that these children receive the necessary support and protection, aligning with international child protection standards. In addition to her child protection responsibilities, Jackline is also a key champion of the Table Banking Project, among other initiatives at NSJC.
Diana Omanga
Communications Lead (Volunteer)
Diana leverages her expertise in marketing and administration to amplify the organization's social initiatives. With a background in running impactful programs in the private sector, she brings valuable experience to her role.
Her passion for digital marketing has been instrumental in enhancing Nyando Social Justice Center's online presence and outreach efforts.

Hezekiah Othatcher
Response Officer
Hezekiah plays a pivotal role in supporting and mobilizing resources for community members. His work is crucial in enhancing problem-solving capabilities within the community, thereby improving overall well-being.
Through his efforts, Hezekiah ensures that community needs are met effectively by facilitating access to necessary resources and services.
