Our Pillars

Advocacy

NSJC advocates for marginalized individuals and groups who are often excluded from mainstream political and social discourse. We work to raise awareness of the issues faced by these groups and advocate for policies and practices that promote equality and justice. In this pillar community mobilization and involvement is our great strength. This pillar cuts across all our other pillars so every time we are implementing a program, we are keen to identify advocacy issues and through the community, we also assist in identifying our own local solutions.

Education

We are committed to increasing awareness and understanding of social justice issues and sexual gender-based violence prevention, protection and response mechanisms as well as empowering individuals and communities to take action. Through education, we have supported survivors in life skills development and training in Vocational, Digital and Entrepreneurship where we have supported in business planning, pricing and good record keeping.

Health

GBV being our foundation, we have been involved in community Health Advocacy, documenting and reporting on concerns of health services ,human rights and gender through a community lead monitoring tool imonitor, this is a platform where the information provided helps to improve service delivery and strengthens health advocacy through evidence based. We also document and report human rights violations against People Living with HIV and /or TB related violations against patients. We have been working closely with HIV TRIBUNAL COURTS supporting and representing stigma and discrimination cases through our Paralegals.

Climate Justice

Our location is floods prone area, so we are so much involved in flood mitigation, awareness on climate rights and responsibilities Through empowering vulnerable groups. Promoting climate smart agriculture through our GBV support groups. We are actively involved in advocating for fair climate policies that protect low income and rural communities. At the county level, we have followed up to ensure that government allocate funds for adaptation not just mitigation. Mobilize youths and grassroots movements in climate activism while partnering other organizations who are directly working on social justice and environmental protection.

Economic Empowerment

This is one of the most effective ways of assisting GBV (Gender Based Violence) survivors to rebuild independence and ensure long-term safety. It has reduced dependance on abusers and strengthens survivors’ ability to make choices about their lives. This has been one of our best strategies in bridging the Economic violence gaps identified amongst most of the GBV survivors. Where we successfully facilitated formation of GBV psychological support groups, survivors who have fully healed are then trained. We successfully became very strong GBV champions. This has ensured continuity and sustainability of most of our programs.

Direct Services

Our services include legal assistance and linkages on women and land rights, Rescues, referrals of sexual and Gender Based Violence cases. Documentation, monitoring and reporting human rights violations. We also document and follow up on HIV/AIDS and/or TB-related violations of stigmatization and discrimination, working closely with HIV tribunal courts.
